We lost our sweet Sommerset today. When I found her this morning she was limp and lethargic. Fearing something infectious I isolated her, got some water into her and asked mom to keep an eye on her. By mid-day I knew we needed a visit to the vet. She was hypothermic and hypoglycemic...we thought we revivied her at the vet. They called me about an hour later to say she had respiratory arrest.
It was very quick. She was very loved and I feel very sad, very, very sad. I am so sorry to have to share this sad news with our Kittenpalooza friends. Jane

I am so sorry. I've been following your blog and it's hard not to fall in love with each and every kitten. Bless you for all you are doing for these sweet little babies.
ReplyDeleteOh we are so sorry to hear about Sommerset. We are so sad and we know this must just be horrible for you. We are sending you lots of prayers and comfort right now.
ReplyDeleteI am soooo sorry, last year I lost one of my foster kittens too, the only girl in a litter of 6, and it still breaks my heart. Try to remember that Somerset was well-loved in her too short life. And sometimes it's just impossible to know what happened; they can have birth defects that we can't see. Also, if these poor cats and kittens had been living on the streets, even more would not have survived. You're doing a great thing by caring for the darlings.
ReplyDeleteOh, we are so sorry. Kittens are sometimes angels too soon.

Oh, honey, I am so very sorry. Kittens are an amazing mix of fragile and resilient, and sometimes it's impossible to say what went wrong. I know your pain and am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as Sommerset crosses to Rainbow Bridge! Sommerset will bring with her stories of the love and fun she had, thanks to you, at Casa Kittenpalooza!

Jane,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about Somerset. I went back to look at her pictures...she was such a beautiful, sweet baby. Hopefully, Alexander met her and they're playing together, talking about the humans they loved.
You WERE her Human! I know she must have loved you very much- you are a GREAT kitten Mom. It is evident watching you care for them...and impossible to look at the care and nurturing you give them without knowing how much you love them. It is evident in every picture, post and video. Surely, she felt this (as they all do).
I hope the rest of our little brood is well as this arrives...because of you, they'll be able to love...

Dear little Sommerset. Too sweet for this world. What a happy life she shared with you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and all her family. She was born to be an angel. Thank you for helping her on her way.
Poor little baby. At least it was not long that she was feeling bad. I hope they can tell you what it was so you can be sure you don't have to worry about any others.
ReplyDeleteI am so very very sorry. I hope that you are able to heal in time. Sending thoughts and love your way
ReplyDeleteStunned....just stunned. How sad....

Oh Jane, I am so sorry. It is so so so hard to lose a little baby. I hope you are doing okay.
ReplyDeleteAs others have said, at least she had you and she was happy during the little life she had.
You are doing amazing and your efforts are wonderful for these babes.
